Music Ministry
A variety of musical opportunities await you at First
Baptist Church London!
We have a focus of teaching music as worship and outreach, as well as
presentation skills for performance. This is done through hymn memory, presentations in
worship services, outreach to the community, and special musical presentations.
Preschool & Children
These groups meet weekly during the school year, August - May.
Preschool & Children's Choir (ages 3-K)

This group is for preschoolers through Kindergarten. The children are taught both musical and spiritual concepts as they meet weekly. They perform during morning worship several times a year - it is always a treat to watch these adorable children worship God through singing!
Music Makers (grades 1-3)

Young Musicians
(grades 4-6)

Our Young Musicians sing frequently
in worship and present an entertaining musical in the spring each
year. Sixth
graders who are now in middle school are encouraged to continue to
sing in Young Musicians and also have the option of singing in the
Youth Choir as well.
Children's and Youth Handbell Choir (grades 3-8)

This group plays frequently in worship and is open to children beginning
in 3rd grade through middle school. Children learn music reading skills as well as learning to play the bells. This group focuses on the basic fundamentals of beginning to ring. Note recognition and rhythm are key concepts for this group.

This group is open to all our youth in grades 7-12. They sing and frequently lead in worship, as well as singing at youth gatherings and various other musical opportunities. We also have a Youth Praise Band which often plays with the Praise Team.
Adults
Adult Handbell Choir

This exciting group plays a three octave set of Schulmerich Handbells. They play frequently in worship, do area outreach projects, and attend the annual Kentucky Baptist Handbell Festival. See Brother Jerry to join.
Sanctuary Choir

Wednesday, 7:00p.m. • Choir Room
This choir is open to adults who enjoy using their musical gifts to worship the Lord and leading others in worship. The choir sings in worship weekly and does special programs each year. They are the chorus for the Passion Play produced in the Easter season. We feel that this group is one of the best in our state!
Vocal Team and Praise Band

These groups lead our congregation in worship through contemporary Christian music and praise songs. Membership is by invitation based on current needs of the group. See Brother Jerry for more information.
Instrumental
Church Orchestra
Director, Jack Walker • Sanctuary
This group is open to all instrumentalists who want to develop and use their gifts in worship. In addition to playing on Sunday mornings, the group does special projects including the Passion Play. Interested persons should see Mr. Walker for more information.
String Program
Instructor, Rebecca Kiekenapp
This program began in the fall of 1996 to teach string instruments in this area. It includes a beginners class each year as well as private lesson on violin, viola, and cello. It is open to anyone in the area desiring to learn. A Community Orchestra has formed as a result of this program and does several programs each year. These talented individuals use their skills to lead us in worship
each week as well as accompanying many of our groups. Other
opportunities are available for accompanying and playing these
instruments.
